Stephen & Lulu
Dear Birthmother,

We cannot imagine how difficult it must be for you to make the decision to place your child for adoption. We want you to know that we have the utmost respect for your bravery, love, and selflessness.
Before you read our story, we wanted to let you know that we are immensely grateful for you choosing to learn more about us. Regardless of your decision, we are thankful for your time and it means so much to us. If selected, we hope you will have confidence that your baby will be cared for and raised as the most precious gift to our family. Our little family is ready to grow and we are honored that you might be part of our journey.

OUR ADOPTION STORY

Adopting a child has been a long-standing desire in both of our hearts, even before we met each other. In 2012, Lulu went on a mission trip to Uganda and volunteered at an orphanage called "Watoto." She took care of the babies at the Baby Home, visited children in the village, taught classes in the slums and Sunday School, and met little ones who left an indelible impression on her. She knew then that she wanted to adopt a child someday, regardless of her marital status. Similarly, Stephen went to Thailand in 2013 and visited his friend who worked at an orphanage. He helped the children there to build and fix toys and got to spend a lot of time simply being with them and showing them they were loved. During his time there, he experienced the sweet innocence of babies and young children, which opened up his eyes and heart to the future possibility of adoption. We then met each other in 2014, and Lulu shared her thought of adoption with Stephen, with peace in his heart, he completely supported her thought. After we got married in 2016, we tried to have a biological child, but Lulu's health condition made it challenging for her to get pregnant. We agreed that we would only have a baby without medical intervention, and if it didn't happen, we wouldn't force it. So far, we don't have a human baby, but we have a very cute fur baby, Pinecone, in our family. We strongly believe that adoption is the right path for our family, and we know that your child would be a blessing to us. Our experiences with orphanages and the desire to provide a loving home to a child in need led us to this decision. We are excited to open our hearts and home to your child, to give them the love, support, and opportunities to achieve their dreams.

OUR PROMISE TO YOU

We are excited about the opportunity to welcome a child into our home and our hearts. We have so much love to give, and we promise to provide a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for your child to grow and thrive.
We want you to know that we will honor and cherish your child's heritage and culture, and we will strive to create a bond with you that is based on openness, trust, and respect. We believe that an open adoption can benefit everyone involved, especially the child, and we are committed to maintaining regular contact with you if that is your wish.

About Us

Our story began at a Christian fellowship meeting in Brooklyn in 2014. Lulu was invited to share her life testimony, and Stephen was there to listen. We didn't know it then, but our meeting that night was a turning point in our lives. Stephen was struck by Lulu's unwavering faith in God and her inspiring story. Similarly, Lulu felt a strong connection with Stephen and found comfort in his presence. Our feelings grew stronger with each passing day, and we soon began dating. At the beginning of our relationship, we learned about our common vision of adopting a child. We believed that was God's blessing to put us together to grow a family! Within 2 years, we were blessed to be able to get married in the summer of 2016.

Our life together has been filled with fun and amazing adventures traveling around the world! Ever since we met, we've been to close to 30 countries and ventured through the mountains to the oceans, from the Arctic to the deserts. We cherish the time we spend outdoors, surrounded by nature, and we hope to share this passion with your child. We also love spending quiet weekends at home, cuddling with our dog, Pinecone, on the couch or driving into the city and trying out new food and restaurants around us. We are lovers of food, we love to explore new flavors and cuisines, discover secret recipes and cook meals for friends and families. We hope to share all of these experiences with your child, and show them the world with all its wonders.

Meet Stephen, born and raised in the diverse neighborhoods of Queens, New York City. He comes from a family of immigrants from Hong Kong and China and grew up alongside his older brother. Aside from work, Stephen is an enthusiastic sports fan who enjoys physical challenges. He has participated in several adventure races, half/full marathons, and is also a skilled chess player who would love to teach your child this strategic game. He is a dog lover and is grateful that his wife, Lulu, overcame her fear of dogs to welcome their furry baby, Pinecone, into the family.,Stephen finds joy in simple pleasures, like a good cup of coffee, exploring new areas during leisurely walks or drives, and savoring local food. Described by Lulu, Stephen is a humble, reliable and thoughtful person. He is kind and friendly. He is always willing to help others and never speaks ill of anyone. He has an open mind and embraces new experiences, constantly seeking opportunities to grow and develop himself.

Meet Lulu

Meet Lulu, born in Guangzhou, China, and raised in Hong Kong. She is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. With a degree in Early Childhood Education, she has been teaching for 16 years, including teaching English at international schools in Hong Kong and currently teaching Mandarin at a private school in Manhattan. Teaching children is her passion and a blessing that brings her joy every day. On one of her birthdays, a close friend gifted her a pin that read "yong gan," meaning courageous in Chinese, as that's what she thought about Lulu. Lulu feels honored to receive such a compliment, and she attributes any courage she has to her faith in Jesus. She acts on her strong beliefs without hesitation. This trait has come in handy during her mountain climbing expeditions, where she has tackled some significant hikes such as Mount Toubkal in North Africa, the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and the base camp of Mount Everest. Traveling is another of Lulu's passions, and she has been fortunate to visit over 70 countries so far. She enjoys learning about different cultures, languages, and seeing natural wonders. Through her travels, Lulu has discovered more about herself, her strengths, and weaknesses. Her dream is to continue exploring and visit 100 countries someday. If Lulu is blessed with the opportunity to adopt a child, she will share her love of travel with them.

Our Home

Last summer, we purchased a house located in a peaceful and tranquil neighborhood. Situated on Manhasset Bay, our home is conveniently close to the ocean, providing us with various water activities to enjoy during the summer months. It is also very convenient to take a short train ride into NYC. We love to take walks with Pinecone in the nearby Sands Point Preserve. The preserve has a wonderful Woodland Playground, which we would love to bring your child to visit! Our town is a safe community with an excellent school district. Our house is a two-story dwelling featuring two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with space for expansion as our family grows. We are located on a tree-lined street in a family friendly neighborhood. Our backyard is Pinecone's favorite place to play and run around, and we look forward to watching your child play alongside their furry sibling in the future! Lulu has a passion for interior design, and she adds personal touches and decorates our home with photographs and artwork, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. Stephen is Lulu's dependable partner, always ready to support her ideas and provide assistance with tasks such as hanging pictures or installing shelves in the kitchen. We cannot wait to make more cherished memories with your child in our new home.

OUR LOVED ONES

Our friends and families are an important part of our lives, and they are scattered all over the world. We feel that it is important to stay connected with them, and so we make a point to travel and reunite with them whenever we can. We love spending quality time with our family and friends, and during our reunions, we always enjoy indulging in delicious food or immersing ourselves in nature. Luckily, both sets of our parents live relatively close to us in NYC, and we get to see them often.
In addition to our families, we have a diverse group of friends here in New York, with whom we enjoy spending time. We often have them over to our home or go out with them to try new restaurants or explore the city. One of our favorite pastimes is playing board games with our friends, and we have many favorites, such as Code Names, Monopoly Deal, and Sushi Go!. Lulu also enjoys cooking with her friends, while Stephen likes to engage in outdoor sports with his buddies. Our community of loved ones is an integral part of our lives, and all our friends and families are very excited and supportive of our decision of adoption. We cannot wait to welcome your child into our family and meet our loved ones.

HOLIDAYS & TRADITIONS

We also love to celebrate important milestones and events in our family. We always make sure to celebrate everyone's birthday in a special way. On Pinecone's birthday every year, Lulu bakes her a homemade cake and treats. Pinecone gets excited whenever she hears the Happy Birthday song and thinks it's her birthday! We also have a weekly date night tradition on Fridays where we celebrate the end of our week of work. We go out to visit some of our favorite spots for food or try something new. We enjoy exploring and trying new restaurants in NYC. We look forward to making our date nights into family nights if we are blessed to bring your child into our family. One of our favorite traditions is taking a summer road trip to Maine. It's a special place for us because it's where we got engaged and subsequently married. We love the beautiful scenery, tranquil environment, outdoor activities, and delicious lobsters that Maine has to offer. During our trips, we sometimes camp along the way or rent a house with water and/or mountain views where Stephen makes a bonfire every night. It's one of his favorite things to do! Aside from our annual summer trip, we also take multiple trips a year, mostly international. We are a family that loves to explore the world and experience new food and cultures. In fact, we have a world map displayed in our living room with different colored pins to indicate where we have traveled to, individually and together. We can't wait to add more pins on our map for the trips we go on with your child! Finally, there are certain holidays that we celebrate in our family, such as Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Lunar New Year. We are excited to add your child's traditions and cultures into our family and celebrate their heritage. We believe that diversity is what makes our family and our world so beautiful and we can't wait to share that with your child!
