Successfully creating families for 40+ years
DOMESTIC ADOPTION
Alliance for Children believes that every child has a right to a permanent, loving family of his or her very own. We also believe that adults who wish to be parents deserve to have the chance to have a child to love. We are committed to putting this principle into action by providing a full range of adoption services to children, birth parents and adoptive families in order to secure permanent, loving homes for children. Our staff is passionate about building happy, love-filled adoptive families, serving the adoption community with integrity, determination, and care, and we provide the same level of care and consideration to both the adoptive and birth families.
Alliance for Children’s domestic adoption program places infants born in the U.S. with adoptive parents who are chosen by the baby’s birth/expectant parent(s). Our agency takes families step by step, and accepts families into our domestic program in a two-step acceptance process. After you review our information packet and connect with domestic staff, you are welcome to submit an application, where you can indicate interest in our domestic program. Upon receiving your application, it will be reviewed and approved for home study services only. We are licensed to provide home study services in MA, RI, CT, NJ, NY, PA, TX, FL, and AR. If you live outside of our states of licensure and/or have an outside home study agency, please note that we are not able to accept applications for only the domestic program at this time, but will re-evaluate at the end of the year.
Once you are home study ready and we have an idea of your family’s preferences and level of openness for your adoption, we are then able to consider accepting your family for domestic adoption services via Phase 1 of our program. We consider families for the domestic program on a case-by-case basis at time of home study completion. We are extremely hands-on in the work that we do and do not feel it is ethical to bring on more families than we can responsibly serve, nor take on families that we may not be the best fit for. We have worked with many wonderful agencies for domestic adoptions as the home study agency, and can certainly provide recommendations for you to find the best adoption team for your family. The home study is the first step of any adoption, and we are honored to be part of a family’s adoption journey in any capacity!
If accepted after reviewing your family’s home study and evaluating availability and movement within our domestic program, we will extend the opportunity to move your family into Phase 1. Phase 1 of our domestic program is our formal, active waitlist in which families receive profile book services through our agency while waiting for a spot in Phase 2. We reach out to Phase 1 families when we need additional families to present to expectant/birth parent(s), as you a profile-ready! Our agency aims to keep a diverse domestic program, which functions as a waiting pool rather than first-come first-serve, so we are unable to estimate a wait time to be moved from Phase 1 to Phase 2 for any specific family, as it entirely depends on movement within our program.
Once your family is in Phase 2 of the domestic program, we will work on the additional steps and action items for the program as we work on finding the right match for your family! We will work with youto develop an individualized matching plan that fits your personal preferences and meets your goals and expectations. We understand that the adoption process can feel overwhelming. Our staff members are available to help you through each step of the process. We also work with adoption partners, agencies and attorneys to ensure the success of your adoption.
As your adoption agency and your partner in the adoption process, we are available to carefully guide you from the first phone call to the finalization of your adoption!
