Melanie and Matthew
Hi! We first want to thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us!

We hope that meeting here brings you into our world and we would love the opportunity to get to know you as well, if that is something you are open to.

While it is true that we may not be able to understand all of your feelings at this time, we believe that your decision is a brave and selfless one, and you have our full respect and support. We feel that it would be a great blessing and we would be honored to partner with you in giving your child a life filled with unconditional love and security. It is our hope that it brings you comfort to know that your child would be cherished by us every single day. We hope too that this book shows the love we have to give; a love that would be given while holding you in our hearts every step of the way.

With love,
Melanie and Matthew

Our Adoption Story

We have been trying to start our family since 2014. At the time, we felt pretty confident that getting pregnant would happen quickly for us and of course hoped it would happen sooner than later. After many months of disappointment, we were eventually diagnosed with infertility. We would be lying if we didn't admit that the news was heartbreaking, but we were hopeful that fertility treatments would help us build the family we had been dreaming of. But even still, our infertility continued.

Going through all of this has truly made us stronger. It was definitely a rough ride, but it is also what brought us here, to you. We have a lot of faith and believe strongly that adoption is the right way for us to become parents and we would be honored to take this journey with you by our sides.

The life into which we would be greatly honored to bring your child would include borrowing stacks of books from the library, making holiday arts and crafts, spending summer weekends at the beach, having pizza and movie nights, watching Saturday morning cartoons over pancakes, and taking Sunday strolls to church. But beyond all those things, what we have to offer most of all is unconditional love, as well as love and respect for you and a great appreciation that will endure forever.

Our Promise to You

We promise that our home and family life with your child will be filled with unconditional love and safety. We also promise to raise your child to respect and admire the loving choices you made for him/her.

We promise to read bedtime stories and give endless hugs and kisses. We promise that we will keep your child warm and protected from cold and rain in winter, and in the warm months, we will teach him or her to swim, build sandcastles, play on the playground, ride a bike, play games and, very importantly, to be a good friend. We promise to teach him/her the importance of school, homework, and studying so that they can be and do anything they want when they are older. We will tell him/her that they are loved every single day, but most of all, we will show that love in every way possible.

About Us

We met in 2006 on Christmas break while we were both freshmen at different colleges. A mutual friend hosted a Philadelphia Eagles football party and that is where it all began. We quickly found out that we had lots in common including a similar, cheerful way about us. We became a couple soon after and the rest as they say, is history!

Over the years, we have skied together, attended sporting events, visited amusement parks, and have taken cooking classes, among other things. We have spent time on the beach and in the mountains with each of our families.

All of this continues today, and we are not only in love with each other, but we are one another's best friend. We are extremely ready for our next adventure together... parenthood! We have so much love to give and cannot wait to share our lives with a little one.

Meet Melanie
Through Matthew's Eyes

I knew I wanted Melanie to be my wife early on because her heart was the biggest that I had ever known. She was the camp counselor at age 16 who never lost her patience and was the first to hug a child with a scraped knee. At age 20, she was the dinner server at a local nursing home who stayed after her shift ended to look at photos of the residents' grandchildren or to paint their nails. Melanie's love and acceptance of me has been genuine from the get-go and it is something I continue to count on. She is also the fun aunt to our three nephews, whether it is building gingerbread houses at Christmas or cooling off under a backyard sprinkler.

Today, Melanie continues to work with the elderly, running activities and keeping them in touch with their families. I can see their love for Melanie - she is patient and kind. She cares for the nursing home residents as though they were her grandparents. As I said, her heart is as big as they come.

I know she will be the most amazing mom one day!

Meet Matthew
Through Melanie's Eyes

My first impression of Matthew was that he was kind and such a gentleman! My sense that he was someone I could trust has proven true over our many years together. He was especially close with his late grandpop, his namesake. They bonded over their shared love of watching the Philadelphia Eagles - they watched lots of games together! Matthew's other grandfather taught him not only to enjoy nature, but how to be a handyman.

Matthew is also great fun. He was a pretty serious ice hockey player growing up and still enjoys playing. As a teen, basketball games in Matthew's driveway were a regular Friday night pastime. These are the same guys Matthew is still friends with!

He is the kind of uncle to our nephews who spends hours on the floor building Lego cities and later helps teach them to swim, followed by bedtime stories when their energy is kaput. Matthew is often called by family and friends to assist with the hanging of a ceiling fan or unclogging of a drain. He shows up with his toolbox ready to get to work!

Matthew is going to be the best father and your baby will be so loved by him.

Our Home

We live in a suburb of New York, in a community filled with playgrounds and schools that are all within walking distance. We are a short subway ride to Manhattan, so we can enjoy all that a big city has to offer and can return to our calm neighborhood.

We live in a single-family home that has benefitted from Matthew's many renovation projects. We both take great pride in the care of our home, including our backyard. One of the things we like best about our house is that our living room and kitchen share one big space. We love how easy it is to be sitting at the table with a cup of coffee and still able to share a conversation with someone on the sofa. It is also the spot in our home where we keep many family photos and mementos.

Holidays and Traditions

On summer weekends, we spend time at the New Jersey shore with family, where BBQ or spaghetti and meatballs are followed by games of corn hole, Pokeno, or walks to watch the sunset. The Fourth of July (Matthew's birthday!) is usually spent relaxing on inner tubes in a swimming pool, followed by a crab feast and birthday cake. Christmas Eve is a special holiday for us, when we attend church and return home to a traditional meal of pierogi and mushroom soup, and then sing Christmas carols. Christmas Day is more laid back, with lots of gift-giving and laughter, in addition to enjoying our family's butter cookies, a many decades-old recipe.

Fun Favorites

(Melanie) For as long as I can remember, I have had a passion for all things Disney. My first and favorite stuffed animal was "Lady", one of the main characters from the movie "Lady and the Tramp". My first ride on an airplane was when I was six and it was to Orlando, where my family spent a week visiting Walt Disney World. The truth is, I enjoy Disney as much now as I did back then, and I look forward to introducing this magical place to your child. I know we will create many memories together!

(Matthew) For as long as I can remember, I have been an Eagles fan. I was introduced to football and the Philadelphia Eagles team by my grandpop when I was a little boy. I remember specifically that it was on Christmas Day in 2006, when the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Dallas Cowboys, something I felt was the best gift ever! I still have a passion for watching the Eagles play football, and I am excited to think about passing on and sharing this tradition with your child one day.

In 2018, we traveled to California for a vacation that included both watching the Philadelphia Eagles play the Los Angeles Rams, as well as a visit to Disneyland - the best of both worlds!

Our Loved Ones

Both of our families mean the absolute world to us and they are thrilled that we are building our family through adoption. Melanie's parents, Jack and Nancy, look forward to being blessed with another grandchild and it is the same with Matthew's parents, David and Karen. Melanie is the eldest of three daughters. Her sisters are Allison and Jaclyn. Matthew has an older sister, Alexandra, with two young sons, and a twin sister, Victoria, who gave birth to a boy in 2020.

Our families are so excited for us to become parents. We often talk with them about all of their hopes and dreams for us as parents, and for themselves as well, which of course includes big family dinners and holiday celebrations.

Thank you so much again for taking the time to get to know us. We hope that reading through these pages has helped you make the choice that best fits what you want for your child. We understand that it is a decision that is made equally with your heart and your gut, and that it is a decision that we know you are making with all of your heart and from the deepest kind of love there is.

With Love,
Melanie and Matthew
