We know how important trust is and want to make sure you are comfortable with us and so we are happy to talk with you and answer any questions you may have. We are excited and hopeful that we can have the chance to get to know you too.
Thank you again for reading our book and taking the time to learn our story. No matter what you decide, we wish you only the very best.
Marie & Raymond
For as long as we can remember, we have always wanted to be parents. It was something we had dreamed about as individuals and then of course, after we became a couple and knew we were ready to start our family. We know that sometimes life throws a curve ball and unfortunately, we dealt with fertility issues. Through it all though, we learned to never quit. We never gave up on our dreams of becoming parents and this is what led us to adoption.
We are so excited for what lies ahead and we think of this as a new chapter for us, and also for you and your baby. We hope we can write this chapter together!
We promise to welcome your baby into a family and a home filled with unconditional love and guidance. We will support your child in all that they do and will make sure that no matter what their own wishes are, they are free to explore those in a safe environment. This is how we were both raised by our own parents and it would be our honor to continue this for your child.
We want to thank you for helping us go on this journey in our lives. We are incredibly humbled and grateful that you would consider us and we hope that through these next pages, you will understand just how much love we have to give.
Even though we went to the same high school, it wasn't until later on that we actually met! Quite a few years after high school, we actually found each other (okay, Marie found Raymond!) through mutual friends on social media. And soon, this connection led way to the start of what was then a long-distance relationship - Marie lived in Pennsylvania and Raymond lived in New Jersey. We eventually moved in together (in New Jersey!) and four years later, we were engaged and a year after that, we were married!
Marie and I have been together since January 2014. Marie is a beautiful (inside and out) and sweet woman. She always puts herself last to take care of her loved ones' needs first. Marie was born deaf and although she was shy on letting me know about it when we first communicated online, I could not be more proud of her. One of the first things I noticed about Marie is how full of joy she is. I knew early on that Marie was the one for me and so I decided to learn American Sign Language and I am so happy that we have this way to communicate together. Something else that makes Marie pretty special is that she is an identical triplet to her two sisters who are also deaf. I would say that I am married to a very unique woman! In her free time, Marie enjoys watching movies, going to sporting events, as well as hanging out with friends and family.
She is also very passionate about photography and is now in school working towards her degree so that she may pursue a career in the field. In fact, you can thank her vision for all of the photos we are sharing with you in this book! Marie enjoys many activities from indoor rock climbing, to archery, and going to the beach in the summertime. She enjoys traveling and is always open for new adventures in our lives together. Despite her being deaf, she has the ability to enjoy music and is a great dancer! Marie is one of the most independent people I know. Have I mentioned that she is also a great cook? She spoils me with great food, especially some of her Italian dishes!Marie is truly an amazing woman. She is kind, caring, smart, and is definitely not a quitter. I see the beautiful relationship she has with her nieces and nephews and I know with all of my heart that she will be the most amazing mother one day.
Raymond is the most amazing man and he is truly the love of my life. He is smart, funny, kind and thoughtful. He loves to be active and enjoys spending his time being outdoors as much as possible. He is the planner in our relationship and treats me well - he takes me out to dinners and to the movies and he loves to plan vacations for us. No matter how big or small, he makes it an amazing experience. His favorite getaways are to the beach because he is most relaxed when he is by the ocean. Raymond and I have a total of 10 nieces and nephews together. He is such a positive influence on all of them and has an especially close bond with his oldest nephew, Anthony. He is a like a father figure to him and I know he would do anything for our family.Raymond is a personal trainer. He shares his fitness knowledge with his clients and is excited about his work. His schedule is very flexible which will be so helpful when we are lucky enough to welcome a little one into our lives.
Raymond is a huge sports fan (his favorite team is the NY Giants!). He likes most sports but he and Anthony love watching professional wrestling together. He has an incredible sense of humor and loves to joke around - he is happiest when those around him are smiling.
Uncle Ray, as he is known in our family, is an amazing role model and all-around human. The kids in our family cannot get enough of him. He is a wonderful friend, uncle and husband. From day one, he has accepted me for who I am and has always supported everything I wanted to do in my life. I am the luckiest to be loved by Raymond and I know he will be the most wonderful father you could ever imagine. Your child will always be his (and our!) top priority.
HOLIDAYS & TRADITIONS
We love spending all our holidays together with our extended family. We celebrate together any time we can but the biggest celebrations happen at Thanksgiving and Christmas. We also make it a tradition to celebrate Halloween together - we enjoy dressing up in our costumes and trick or treating with the kids. Apple picking has been a yearly event that we all enjoy together and watching sporting events sitting around enjoying each other's company. The kids love it when we are all playing games together as a family.
Family dinners are important to us. Marie's family embraces the Italian culture while Raymond's family celebrates the Hispanic culture. Spending time together is a tradition. No matter how busy all of us get in our lives, we make it a point to be with each other as often as possible.
Another fun tradition that we share is going to Comic Con in New York every year!!
WHERE WE CALL HOME
We live in a suburb of New Jersey. The town is beautiful, and we feel lucky to call this our home. We have wonderful neighbors who have welcomed us to the community. We have plenty of parks around us, not to mention great restaurants and local shops. Our area also has amazing schools which is so important to us. The only thing our home is missing is a little one!
We love to travel - whether it is by plane or a road trip across the country. We attended a destination wedding in Mexico years ago and fell in love with the resort experience. Since then, we have never shied from traveling. We travel to Pennsylvania to see family and have also taken advantage of the local sites the towns have to offer. We enjoy nearby events in New York City and have been able to attend a Broadway show that caters to the deaf and hard of hearing audience, which made it much better for us overall. We can't wait to travel as a family of 3 one day!
Ashley is our Yorki Shi-Zu mix. Even though she is "our" dog, she is definitely very attached to Marie (Marie already had Ashley when we met!). Ashley is extremely sweet and gentle with people but we like to joke around and call her our mini guard dog because she is always sitting by the window until we arrive back home. She is 13 years old and is still full of energy. We love going on walks with her and have even brought her along on some of our local road trips! She is definitely part of our family and Ashley will be the guardian and big sister to your baby.
We have a huge family that loves to show up and be together every chance we get. When it comes to birthdays and holidays, we are like the entertainment that keeps everyone with a smile on their face. Both sides of our family have all embraced each other through the years and get along well. Our nieces and nephews consider us their best aunt and uncle and we are honored! As you know, we adore our nieces and nephews so we want to introduce you to them by name! From oldest to youngest, they are: Anthony, Erik, William, David, Alicia, Nate, Abby, Aiden, and the newest addition is Junior aka Baby Phil. Each child has their own personality, and we love it when we can see them all together.
Marie's mom raised her triplet daughters as a single mother. She is the person they learned from to become the women they are today. Her grandparents were also a big part of her life growing up. Although they have passed away, their memory is always close to Marie's heart and she will always carry the lessons they taught her. Raymond's mother raised him, along with his brother and sister with the support of their father. Raymond's stepfather has also been a part of their lives for many years.
All of our family is so thrilled that we are choosing to grow our family through adoption. They have been incredibly supportive and they are very excited for the day we are blessed to welcome a child into our lives and become a family of 3!
Thank you again for taking the time to read our book. We hope you were able to get to know us and feel how excited we are to be going down this journey and to becoming parents. We would be honored to welcome you and your baby into our lives and would love to get to know you as well if that is something you are comfortable with in the process.
Thank you again and we wish you the best as you make this decision. We hope to begin this next chapter in our lives with you.
