Hello! We cannot thank you enough for taking the time to get to know us, our story, and why we have chosen to start our family through adoption. We admire your strength, courage, and kindness as you face what must be an incredibly challenging decision. We hope that by getting to know us, you will come to find that we are loving people who would give all of ourselves to your child if you were to choose us.
We know that you are focused on doing what is best for you and your baby. And no matter what you decide, we hope that you feel supported and loved throughout your journey.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for spending some time learning a little more about us!
Adoption was something that we decided would be part of our lives even before we were married. Through our shared experiences volunteering and traveling, we both came to believe that adoption would be the right way for us to start our family. We feel so ready to be parents and are very excited to take the next step. We hope to take it with you!
We cannot wait to be parents. We are in a place in our marriage, careers, and lives where we feel fully prepared to give your child an incredible home filled with love and laughter. If you choose us, we will make sure that that your child always feels loved and has every opportunity to make all of their dreams come true. Your child will be welcomed into a large extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who will all love them to the moon and back!
We promise that no matter what, we will put your child's needs (and dreams!) above our own and we will do whatever it takes to guide and support them throughout life. We have so much love to give and would be nothing short of absolutely honored to open our hearts to you and your baby.
We met on the first day of our Freshman year at college. Realizing how much we had in common and enjoyed spending time together, we quickly became close friends and three years later, we officially began dating! Since then, we have been inseparable. We moved together to New York City shortly after graduation. NYC has come to be such a special place for us - a place where we created so many memories together. We were lucky enough to have many of our closest friends and family nearby, with so much of our time spent exploring the city together. We love trying new restaurants, going to concerts, museums, and travelling together.
During Covid, we found ourselves spending much more time on Martha's Vineyard which is where we now call home. Here, you will find us hanging out at the pool, taking walks on the beach and going on hikes with our dog, Oliver. We also enjoy hosting our friends and family over at our place. In our downtime, we both love to read, cheer on our favorite sports teams (Baltimore Ravens and Maryland Terrapins!) and cook. Allie is the resident chef of the family, always eager to test out new recipes. Chris won't admit it, but he has become quite the baker recently as well, thanks to quarantine! So far, our biggest kitchen successes have been a delicious chicken parmesan, biscuits and carrot cake for dessert!
Allie is incredibly smart, funny, and kind. She cares deeply about others and has this ability to instantly bond with people. To say that she is the rock of our friend and family groups would be an understatement. Whether its cooking gourmet meals, planning trips, or finding the perfect spot on the beach, she is always doing whatever she can to make sure those around her are happy and comfortable.
When Allie sets her mind to something, there is no doubt that she will get it done. She loves her work in finance and has found a way to make helping others a part of her career. She has been an incredible mentor and also finds time to work with a NYC organization which helps underprivileged high school students graduate and go on to college. I dont know if there is enough room in this book to describe Allies love for our dog, Oliver. They are inseparable. I think he may be the luckiest dog on the planet - they need to invent a stronger word for spoiled!
We are lucky to have a family full of nieces and nephews and it has been awesome to see how much they all love their Aunt Allie. Seeing her play, teach, and help them grow, I know that she is going to be a great mom.
I have been lucky enough to be loved by Allie for the last 14 years and I cannot wait to see Allie share her love with a little one! Her love has no limits and your child will always have Allie's unconditional love.
Chris is kind, generous and wickedly funny. He constantly puts others ahead of himself, without thought or question. Though he may seem shy when you first meet him, you will soon see that he is a people person, always going out of his way to make people feel comfortable and at ease. Chris has the patience of a saint. As I have watched him grow into the wonderful uncle and godfather that he is, I have seen his ability to remain cool, calm and collected under pressure. Each time, I am amazed at how Chris is able to find laughter and light among the chaos. It is for this and so many other reasons, that I have no doubt that he will be the most amazing father.
Chris is a great athlete, sous chef extraordinaire and a loving and devoted Poppa to our dog, Oliver. His love for life is infectious - he is determined to make every day count. I am so lucky to have him by my side and cannot wait to become parents together.
WHERE WE LIVE
After 12 amazing years in NYC, we made the decision to move to Martha's Vineyard, MA at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Martha's Vineyard has always been our happy place and home to many wonderful memories - it is where we got married, bought our first home, have hosted countless college reunions, family BBQ's, celebrated anniversaries, birthdays, and holidays together with our family and friends. It has become the happy place of so many others in our lives, we wouldn't trade it for the world. Our experience living here has only re-confirmed our love for our home, our neighborhood, as well as the local community that has been kind, warm, welcoming and so much more. We are regulars at the farm stand on Saturday mornings, are greeted with a hug every time we grab dinner back at our wedding venue. We also learned early on that croissants (our favorite breakfast pastry) at our local bakery sell out by 9 AM every Sunday (never making the same mistake twice!). While we will always hold a special place in our hearts for New York City, we are forever grateful for the opportunity to become part of such an amazing community and we are proud to call this our home.
Holiday celebrations and traditions have always been a big deal in both of our families and has only become more fun since we have been together. We usually split our holidays between Maryland and New York. Christmas in Maryland always includes a big holiday party the weekend before Christmas, followed by a full day of celebrations, presents, Chris' mom's amazing cooking, and more recently, us chasing our nephews and nieces around the house.
Christmas Eve is spent with our best family friends, the Browns, a tradition that has been carried on since Allie's childhood. The night always ends with a reading of The Night Before Christmas, no matter how old we get! Allie's parents host the entire family on Christmas Day, a day filled with our loved ones, lots of laughs, and tons of food! In the past few years, we have started to create some of our own traditions, hosting at our house for Thanksgiving and Christmas, which has been a lot of fun. In the past few years, we have started to create some of our own traditions, hosting at our house for Thanksgiving and Christmas, which has been a lot of fun.
We are both lucky enough to be born into large, close-knit families, which have only grown over the years.
Allie is the oldest of two girls. She and her sister Jessie were close growing up, but became inseparable when Jessie joined us at the University of Maryland. Were lucky enough to have Jessie and her amazing husband Rob close by in New York, and to have shared so many incredible adventures together. They are our favorite traveling companions and proved to be great roommates when they lived with us for 6 weeks during the pandemic! Allie's parents, John and Carolyn, are high school sweethearts who just recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. They have been incredible role models, showing us not only the way to build and maintain a strong relationship, but a community of family and friends rich with love, traditions, and joy. Chris is the youngest of three boys (James is the oldest followed by Bill), all separated by a little more than 3 years. When Chris was around 8, his parents, Lisa and Charles, separated and both eventually remarried, bringing his step-parents and three step sisters, Jenn, Ashley and Sara into his life. Chris is very close with all five of his siblings and even though they live in different parts of the world (James lives in Australia!), they all keep in touch. The story of our family would not be complete without mentioning Chris' Grandmom, Maria. She is everything you could ever ask for in a grandparent - kind, loving, and supportive of us in every way. We are so excited for her to welcome a great-grandchild! Growing into the role of aunt, uncle, and godparents to our two nephews, two nieces, and 15+ children of our closest friends, has been one of the most fun-filled experiences of our lives. It has brought us so much happiness, and has helped us to figure out the type of parents we want to be. Above all else, it has taught us that it takes a village and has shown us that we will be surrounded by tons of love and support when we are lucky enough to welcome a little one into our world.
It was love at first sight when we met Oliver five years ago. He had just been rescued off the streets of West Virginia, and are so grateful to have been the lucky ones to welcome him into our family. He has brought happiness and unconditional love into our home. His love for people knows no bounds - he is the furry favorite among our friends, family and countless perfect strangers. He has no problem winning people over thanks to his sweet smile and calm, friendly personality. He is a lover of steak, belly rubs and walks on the beach and is the resident ringleader of the neighborhood dog pack.
Every day is better with Oliver in it, we are so grateful to have him in our lives.
Thank you for taking the time to read through our story and learn a little more about us. We hope that we were able to show how excited we are to become parents and how much love and support we have to give. We cannot fully understand how much will go into your decision but we are truly honored that you would consider us.
Please know that we are available to answer any questions and will always be open and honest with you. We are so grateful for your time and hope to get the chance to know you too. We promise to honor and respect your wishes every step of the way.
